With acidrip installed, type acidrip to start the program. The default screen that greets you (see Figure 3-5) can be a bit intimidating at first since it has so many options. For basic ripping there are only a few options you need to worry about, and the nice thing is that acidrip will remember your settings for next time. That means that after you have it set up, you can rip multiple DVDs with minimal ...
You can download AcidRip from the SourceForge product page. It is alsoin the package repositories of some Linux distributions. Because AcidRipis a Perl program, once you have unpacked the source files, you can launchAcidRip right from the source folder.
AcidRip depends on MPlayer and MEncoder, so you need to have theminstalled and working. You also need the DeCSS package to enablethe reading of encrypted DVDs. Basically, if you can use MPlayer towatch a DVD, you can use MEncoder to rip it. MPlayer and MEncoder areincluded with most distributions, so there more than likely is a prebuiltpackage available in your distribution's package repositories. If not, download the MPlayer source and essential codecs packages from the MPlayerWeb site. Follow the installation instructions (see the on-lineResources),and you should be in business.
AcidRip is an automated front end for MPlayer/Mencoder (ripping and encoding DVD tool using mplayer and mencoder) written in Perl, using Gtk2::Perl for a graphical interface. Makes encoding a DVD just one button click! However, you only can download and install it under Debian / Ubuntu Linux. If you want to copy the content of a DVD to a hard disk drive on MacOS High Sierra or transfer video on DVDs to different formats to playback on QuickTime, iTunes, Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, you need a AcidRIP alternative for macOS High Sierra.
Flatpak is installed by default on Fedora Workstation, Fedora Silverblue, and Fedora Kinoite. To get started, all you need to do is enable Flathub, which is the best way to get Flatpak apps. Just download and install the Flathub repository file.
